Lightning Damaged Trees

These photos are an attempt to display known lightning damage to trees in South Florida. These pictures are of trees with physical damage or with nearby damage that would lead us to believe that lightning was the cause of decline.

Spring lightning storm blew the top out of the above coconut as well as the extensive damage to the trunk. This photo was taken 7-10 days after the storm.

Lightning killed this Canary Island Date. These Dates are in a private garden and are a good example of the healthy foliage possible with proper maintenance programs.
